The Arts Council of New Westminster acts as an umbrella organization for approximately thirty visual, literary, and performing arts groups.

As a member group, your organization will receive the Art Beat newsletter, and will be able to make an input to the planning and running of the Council.

If your organization would like to be added to our list you must become member of the Arts Council.

City Stage New West

‘City Stage New West’ (formerly known as the Friends Of Raymond Theatre Company Society) is a not for profit society formed in 2005 to fill the gap left by the closing of the Raymond Burr Theatre Company. Our aim is to raise funds and be the vehicle for the development and production of professional theatre in New Westminster. We welcome all new members. Simply contact Jemma Downes at 604 - 525 - 1993 (Membership Secretary). Watch for our monthly activities.

Vivo Children’s Choir

Vivo Children’s Choir is a New Westminster based, non-auditioned choir including children who are in grades two and above. Founded in September 2002, the choir strives to nurture and develop a love of music through a diverse musical curriculum in a fun and inclusive environment. Vivo rehearses at Olivet Baptist Church on Wednesdays from 4:30 until 5:30pm, both as one large choir and also split into Junior and Intermediate groups.

Jenning Institute for Performing Artists & So-La-Mi Musical Theatre

The Jennings Institute for Performing Artists is a not-for-profit college that trains, manages, and represents artists. Established in 1974, the Jennings Institute provides a safe, nurturing, and challenging environment for performance training and performance opportunities. The JIPA’s senior performance group is the So-La-Mi Musical Theatre, a professional performance company that trains all ages in voice, dance, choreography, speech, music, theory, piano, and acting. This group has focused in the last three years on performing primarily at events in the Lower Mainland, especially in New Westminster and Burnaby.
