What We Do
To
implement our Aims, the Arts Council has identified a
number of ongoing programs, and is always on the look out for
special projects:
-
Provide scholarships
to students at New Westminster Secondary School and Douglas College who
are pursuing further training or a career in the arts (2)

Operate an Art Gallery in Queens Park, featuring monthly exhibits
in a variety of mediums by established and emerging artists (2)

Work with the local schools on programs to ensure art enrichment
opportunities for students (2).

Publish a bi-annual Arts Directory of local artists, arts organization,
facilities, and instructors (3).

Publish a quarterly
newsletter, The Art Beat, giving news and events relating to the
Arts in New Westminster (3).

Act as advocates of the arts at both the Municipal and Provincial
level (1).

Distribute annual grants and provide in-kind assistance to member
groups (2) (3).

Produce a variety of annual and semi-annual events, including craft
fairs and concerts (2).

Administer an Art Rental program
(2).

Present an annual Children's Summer School of the Arts
(2).

Work with many other community groups and organizations to promote
and encourage all types of artistic endeavors (2).

Attend planning meetings
and conferences at City, Provincial and Federal Levels (1).
