Inspired by Children
A mixed-media exhibition by
artists, of all ages
October 28th. to November 22, 2008
Open House: November 2nd. 2 to 4pm.
The Selection Committee Statement
The Committee is seeking works which, having been inspired by
CHILDREN, will lift the spirits of the viewers by the beauty,
the humour, the unusual and the unexpected. The viewers will
be inspired to look at CHILDREN in a new light.
The Committee recognizes that artists/artisans create works
for many different reasons and bring different experiences to
their creations.
Criteria.
• Original, recent works ONLY, completed within the last two
years, maximum TWO pieces.
Pictures in any or mixed media, framed and ready for
hanging (wire only.)
Sculptures in clay, wood, organic material and glass. NB
these must be of a size that can be easily handled and
displayed, either free-standing or on plinths.
Fabric and fibre arts, suitably presented for display
purposes.
Literary arts and music. Poetry, short stories, song or
music. (If meant to be listened to during the exhibition, the
artist may be required to supply the necessary equipment eg;
tape-recorder/recording and headset.)
NB: For works requiring special installation, complete
instructions must be
attached to the work or included with entry form.
Conditions.
An
entry form must be completed for each piece. These are
available at the Gallery/office and at the Public Library or
at the Arts Council office.
An
artists statement must be attached.
Attach an identification tag to each piece submitted.
Complete a membership application and fee for the year 2009
(valid January 1 to December 31, 2009) OR submit entry fee of
$15.
SCHEDULE FOR ARTISTS/ARTISANS
Works to be delivered to the Arts Council office/gallery,
October 25th. 4 to 5pm or by special arrangement.
Works to be displayed October 28th to November 22nd
Community Open House Sunday November 2nd 2 to 4pm
(Works not selected MUST be removed on Saturday November 1st
1-5pm.
Registration Deadline: October 15th, 2008
